“For those not familiar with Afta-1, allow us to introduce you. For the past few years, he’s been one of the foremost proprietors of southern California’s beat movement, nurturing an electronic love legacy. His music is off kilter and ambient with synths, chords, clacks, reverbs and a real soul to it. It’s computer blue, yet organic. During the set, positioned before the night’s attendees, Afta-1 plays the role of mad machinist, twisting knobs, pushing keys, and tapping pads to create his own binary language. Obviously, it’s a language that we’ve all interpreted, and we communicate back with synchronized head nods.”
